31 weeks

Here we are at the end of June and at 31 weeks! As I say almost every time I write in here, I really can't believe that we're this far along in the pregnancy. We have only 9 weeks to go, just 2 short months. I just can't believe it!

It's been brought to my attention that some of my posts are rather negative and only focusing on the idiotic things that people say. However, there are plenty of perks of being pregnant as well.

Here are a few:

-Everyone offers to help...with everything.

-Eric is amazing. Seriously, if I have a need, he makes sure it's met.

-People are saying extremely nice things to me about my appearance, which is a very welcome change from a few months ago!

-I have an excuse to nap. (Although I don't use it much and was instructed by Jasmine to do more of it over the next few weeks).

-Flowy dresses and flip flops are at a whole new level of comfortable these days.

-Eating is fun. Don't get me wrong, I try to be healthy (most of the time) but I really enjoy eating more these days than in the past, which is hard to imagine because I've always loved to eat!

-Our pets love me. I don't know if they know something is up, but they sleep on me, next to me and pretty much don't let me out of their sight anymore. So cute!

On another note, we got to welcome a new member to the family this weekend! Henry Christopher Brotherson was born on Saturday, June 26 at about 2:15pm to Chris & Ann (Eric's brother and our sister in law). Henry weighed in at 8 pounds even and he and Ann are doing great!! Eric gets to go home next week to meet him...so jealous, as I will be sitting this trip out! But will get to meet that sweet little guy in September!

30 weeks!

Even typing that, 30 weeks, I can't believe it! I can't believe that in only 10 short weeks, we'll be snuggling Baby B rather than rubbing my belly! I am excited, anxious, excited, nervous...words can't even express all the feelings I go through in a regular day!

I am feeling rather large these days! (I will post a pic soon, but thought I'd get a good one of the belly at our bellydance performance this weekend). I am loving the belly, but really could do without all the excess fat that has taken residence on my thighs and backside! I know it's all for a GREAT cause and will blame this mostly on an insensitive comment made several years ago, that for some reason I can't let go! And it blows my mind as to why this is happening...I continue to dance and Eric and I walk most nights, for a total of about 15 miles each week. Guess the body is going to do whatever it wants to do during pregnancy!

Other than that, still feeling great! I have been sleeping well...and feel like I could just sleep for days on end sometimes! My legs get a little restless and feet a little swollen (especially on days I don't walk or dance) but Eric has been great about rubbing them to get the blood circulating better...amazing! No heartburn, no sickness, no nothing...other than my belly growing, I have missed the majority of the other pregnancy symptoms! (Knocking on wood now).

Starting to get anxious about the actual labor. Have heard quite the variety of comments, ranging from being crazy to birth without drugs because it hurts like hell...to...it's not that bad really and you have the greatest reward in the end. Just going to continue reading books and watching videos about the process and how to manage the pain. I'm excited to see how my mind and body handle this process so I can pass on super encouraging words to those who do this next!

We also had a lovely visit with my mom, sister and new niece over the weekend! That little one is so cute! I found myself waking up during the night when she was here and getting nervous that I didn't hear her...funny how that mindset has already kicked in! And luckily for all of us, she would just wake up sucking her hands rather than crying! (Take notes, Baby B). The weather didn't cooperate, but we had fun chatting, shopping, playing with Elliott, eating, etc. All around a great visit!

Getting ready for Father's Day and Strawberry Days this weekend! Should be a fun weekend!

29 weeks

Here we are...at 29 weeks! This is really going fast! Hard to believe that in 11 short weeks (give or take a few) our little baby will be here! Sure don't know what has happened since December when we found out we were pregnant!

We had another appointment with Jasmine this week, as we're now on the every 2 weeks schedule. Passed the Glucose Test, so luckily don't have to worry about Gestational Diabetes. She and Eric were able to feel body parts, which was cool! Although I'm not sure the baby liked it so much because it would often give a big jab back to them! A little attitude already! We also heard the baby's heartbeat at 140 bpm, which has been about the norm for this pregnancy!

At 29 weeks, the baby weighs about 2.5 pounds and is about 15 inches long! I can tell that this baby is getting long as I have been feeling movement up near my ribs as well as in my lower belly...must be taking after your dad!

We've also got our childbirth classes to look forward to next month, which I am getting very excited for! We'll be learning a lot and also talking to parents who have also recently had babies...so it will be nice to get some insight from new moms and dads as well!

Last weekend, I danced in the Dance Academy's recital with Bella Luz, our student troupe. We had an awesome performance and people seemed to enjoy watching a pregnant woman dance...other people seemed to think it was totally bizarre that I would still be dancing at this point! If you want to check it out, there is a video posted on facebook.

Looking forward to this weekend as more visitors are headed out to Colorado...my mom, my sister and my new niece, Elliott! Know we'll have a great visit...and that I'll have lots of great pics to post soon!

Pancakes...and Pictures

My big pancake breakfast took place this weekend! It was fun and delicious...but I was full and felt kind of crappy all day yesterday! I usually eat agave nectar on my pancakes and don't think I ever want to eat syrup again! We meet with Jasmine next week to find out if the results are good. I didn't eat all of the food in pictured...but had to eat 2-3 pancakes, 1/8 c. of syrup, 2 forms of protein and at least 8 oz. of juice. See amazing feast below...

And here is a picture of me and our baby at 27+ weeks. I am getting big these days! But that is the goal! Baby is about 14 inches long and weighs in at a whopping 2 pounds this week. The third trimester has officially begun...cannot believe how soon this little baby will be here!

Lastly, here is a picture of beautiful Harvey Gap. Western Garfield County gets a pretty bad rap sometimes, but look at this picture! How beautiful is that water and the mountains...just breath-taking! The water is so clear and the most wonderful shade of blue-green, it looks like it could be a tropical island. But it's here in Colorful Colorado...and only a few miles from our house!

We had a great visit with my Dad and Pam this weekend! Got to see some great sites and spend some time together! Strange to realize that the next time we see each other, there will be a tiny new addition to the family! And this is just the beginning of the visitors that will be coming out to see us this summer...so excited!!!

Meeting Ronda

Yesterday we had the great pleasure of meeting Ronda, who will be Baby B's future daycare provider! I know it may sound a bit early to be worrying about this, but when I started calling in February, several of the daycare providers I spoke with already knew that they didn't have room for any new kids come this fall. Other providers I spoke with weren't willing to take us on a waitlist or couldn't be sure that they would have room for a little one come October(ish).

And then, we found Ronda! One of the many perks of Ronda's daycare is that she is just blocks from my office. I could literally walk over to her house anytime during my day to get a baby fix, if needed.

Miss Ronda might be the sweetest little gal, which is so great! We got to watch her interact with her own children and the other kids at the daycare and she treats them with respect and gets respect in return. It was quite nice to watch her interact with her teenage son and hear him respond so respectfully. Sure, you can help me raise my kids if they'll turn out like that!!!

Needless to say, I couldn't be more pleased with our future daycare provider!

Also? We saw Jasmine yesterday. Baby B is growing very well! We got to hear Baby's itty bitty heart beating away at 152 bpm. She also was able to feel the baby's head, which is already down. I laughed and said, "For now, but I'm sure the baby will move around 1000 times between now and August." Jasmine informed me that most babies are in their delivery position by 28-32 weeks...so good job, Baby B! Now just stay put and keep growing!

I get to do my glucose test this week, to check for Gestational Diabetes! I know most pregnant women don't get excited about this, but...we get to do it a little differently! I get to eat 75 grams of sugar, which translates to a big ol' pancake breakfast! I am so excited for this feast! And...she also provides me with a glucometer so I can test myself as needed. So much better than drinking some little drink and then sitting at the hospital.

As of the end of this week, we will be 27 weeks along...with only 13 short weeks to go before we get to meet our little baby! At 27 weeks, our baby weighs about 2 pounds and is about 14.5 inches long! We're almost to the third trimester...I can't believe it!!

Bring on the pancakes!

Guess the day!

So, we thought it would be fun to see what you guys think we're having and when it will happen!

Here's some background...

We're not finding out the sex, so we have absolutely no idea if baby is a girl or a boy. And, no, I don't have a feeling one way or the other and I haven't had any dreams about gender.

Our estimated date of delivery, according to my cycle is August 27, 2010. According to our ultrasound, our estimated date is August 25, 2010. (We're sticking with August 27 because it's not enough of a difference to change anything!)

I was born a month premature and Eric was born right on time.

So, tell us what you think the following will be...

Gender
Weight
Height
Date of birth
Time of birth

Anyone can post a comment here, so go for it! And we'll see if anyone out there has some psychic abilities!!!
